Discovery Den Policies
1. Registration & Membership
All children must be registered before participating in any sessions or the Book Club.
A completed registration form and agreement to The Discovery Den policies are required.
2. Payment Policy
Book Club and Session fees are due in advance.
Payments are non-refundable unless Discovery Den cancels a session.
3. Book Club Policy
Members may borrow 2 books per week.
Books are due back before new books are borrowed.
Parents are responsible for borrowed books while they are checked out.
Books should be returned clean and in good condition.
Lost or severely damaged books may incur a replacement fee.
4. Book Return Policy
Books are due on the scheduled exchange day (Saturdays).
A short grace period (for example, 2–3 days) may be offered.
Repeated late returns may temporarily suspend borrowing privileges until books are returned.
5. Attendance & Cancellations
Advance booking is required for all sessions.
If a family cannot attend, please notify Discovery Den 24hrs in Advance.
Grace is given for emergency medical situations.
Missed sessions are non-refundable but can be transferred to a different date.
6. Health & Illness Policy
To help keep everyone healthy, children should remain at home if they have:
Fever within the last 24 hours
Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours
Contagious illnesses
Persistent coughing that interferes with participation
Any condition that may place other children at risk
Children may return once they are symptom-free according to your local public health guidance.
7. Parent Supervision
Since Discovery Den is a learning and play center (rather than a daycare), parents or designated caregivers are responsible for supervising their children unless a specific drop-off program is clearly advertised.
8. Behavior Policy
Discovery Den promotes kindness, sharing, and respect. If a child displays behavior that could harm themselves, another child, or property:
Staff will redirect the child.
Parents may be asked to assist.
Repeated unsafe behavior may require leaving the session.
9. Respect for Property
Families are expected to:
Treat books, toys, and learning materials with care.
Report damaged equipment promptly.
10. Food & Allergy Policy
Please inform staff of any allergies before attending.
Discovery Den cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
11. Photography Policy
Photos or videos may occasionally be taken for Discovery Den's marketing and social media. By booking a session you agree to give permission for your child to appear in photos/videos used for social media, promotional materials, and marketing. Cameras are placed inside and outside to ensure safety and security and will be turned on at all times.
12. Safety Policy
Children must wear appropriate clothing and shoes for active play.
Adults should accompany children to and from the facility.
13. Cleaning & Hygiene
Toys, books, and high-touch surfaces are cleaned regularly.
Hand washing or sanitizing is encouraged upon arrival, and after messy activities.
14. Code of Conduct
Discovery Den is committed to creating a welcoming, respectful environment.
Kind and respectful communication is expected from all adults and children.
Harassment, discrimination, abusive language, or aggressive behavior toward staff or other families will not be tolerated.
15. Right to Refuse Service
Discovery Den reserves the right to suspend or terminate participation if policies are repeatedly violated or if behavior compromises the safety or enjoyment of others.
16. Inclement Weather/Emergency Closure
In the event of closure due to inclement weather or an emergency, Discovery Den will allow for a session to be transferred to a different date of the clients’ choice.
17. Digital waiver and liability release
Acknowledgment of Risk
I understand that participation in activities at The Discovery Den may include physical play, movement, arts and crafts, sensory activities, story time, climbing, balance activities, and other age-appropriate educational experiences. While every reasonable effort is made to provide a safe environment, I acknowledge that participation carries inherent risks that may result in injury.
Assumption of Responsibility
I voluntarily allow my child to participate in activities offered by The Discovery Den and assume all risks associated with participation. I understand that accidents may occur despite appropriate supervision and safety procedures.
18. Lost or stolen items
The Discovery Den is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings brought onto the premises.
19. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release, waive, and hold harmless The Discovery Den, its owner, employees, volunteers, contractors, and representatives from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of or related to my child's participation in activities, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.
